Information Modeling is the practice of capturing information such as data records, status and notifications, in a consistent standards based format. This is important so that organizations may share data between their business applications and allow for more simpler and cost effective integration between software systems.
It is paramount that an organization analyze and determine a set of standards and a common framework to use for information modeling. All departments or groups that are practicing common modeling approaches must adhere to and diligently follow these standards and framework.
